Review: Tekken 6

Tekken has long been a viable alternative to those who have strayed from the Street Fighter, Soulcalibur, or Mortal Kombat camps. Ever the dark horse of the genre, it’s been around long enough to avoid the typical pitfalls that riddle efforts considered unsuccessful by the community. With the advent of Tekken 6, that lucky streak seems to have been cut short. While the core gameplay is slick and enjoyable brawler, the pithy Scenario mode and overall presentation mire this flashy fighter in a mess of broken gameplay, dated graphics, and disappointing online play. While it may be enjoying great success in the arcades, I can’t quite recommend it as a console port.

SFIV fans, part of the long wait is over! The Capcom store now has both the 360 and PS3 Fight Sticks in stock! As long as you have the cash, you can pick up either the regular ($69.95/$79.95) or tournament edition ($149.95) Fight Stick controllers (but there’s a limit of 2 per person). These tend to sell out fast, so if you want one of these bad babies, you’d better move quickly. The fight pads, however, are still sold out, and no word as to when these will be restocked.
Imaginings of classic games as we all know usually go awry. So in many cases the best thing to do to enhance a classic game is nothing at all. LucasArts is doing just that with their beloved classic The Secret of Monkey Island. But what is a classic game brought to the Xbox 360 without the extra glam? The newly enhanced version of the game will include brand new character art in the same graphical style of the original. It will also include beautiful hand-painted backgrounds and environments in absolutely glorious 1080i widescreen resolution for your eyes to feast upon.
