The FPS genre continues to draw negative attention as far as morality is concerned, particularly in relation to Medal of Honor, a game that’s been rather boastful of its current significance to both American and foreign military soldiers alike. The player will have a chance to kill people in Afghanistan, no doubt, but the ability to play as the Taliban is apparently where many Americans, particularly mothers, draw the line of ethics: “How can they say it’s OK for someone to play the Taliban? You’ll have people sitting at home, drinking beer, shooting at American soldiers, maybe missing, then starting over. Well, Ken didn’t have a chance to start over,” said Karen Meredith on behalf of her son.

Yesterday Treyarch gave the media a chance to have some hands-on time with the Call of Duty: Black Ops multiplayer. While the media was gunning each other down,  killstreak bonuses for Black Ops were revealed. We love our bonuses. Take a look below to see how many people you have to kill to have yourself a good time in Treyarch’s latest game, CoD: Black Ops!

Here’s a look at the bonuses that reach up to an 11 killstreak:

  • 3 Kills – Spy Plane
  • 3 – RC-XD (RC bomb)
  • 4 – Counter Spy Plane
  • 4 – SAM Turret
  • 5 – Care Package
  • 5 – Napalm Strike
  • 6 – Sentry Gun
  • 6 – Mortar Team
  • 7 – Attack Helicopter
  • 7 – Valkyrie Rockets
  • 8 – Blackbird
  • 8 – ‘Rolling Thunder’
  • 9 – Chopper Gunner
  • 11 – Attack Dogs
  • 11 – Gunship

Now I’m not the biggest Call of Duty player in the world (I’m more of a Halo jumper), so what do you all think? Do the rewards meet your expectations? Keep up with us to hear the latest news on Black Ops, coming out on November 9th for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

image of Call of Duty Black Ops Multiplayer Modes Wager Match

Treyarch has revealed the multiplayer modes of the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops at a press event in Los Angeles last night. With Black Ops, it seems Treyarch is really stepping up its game to make up for the (arguable) failures and downsides of Modern Warfare 2 and to really prove itself as a AAA developer, because these multiplayer modes seem awesome. Read up on the multiplayer after the break.

Mortal Kombat Shadows Trailer

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released a new Mortal Kombat trailer, titled “Shadows,” featuring many recognizable fighters such as Raiden and Scorpion fighting… except you can only see their shadows. Even so, you’ll see blood squirting and someone getting impaled and whatnot, all to the tune of Disturbed’s “Another Way to Die.” Disturbed is providing the soundtrack to the game. Check out the trailer after the break.

Is morality a black and white issue? Senior Producer on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, Tomasz Gop, clearly explains the game will not be heading down the conventional “good versus evil” path familiar to Mass Effect and will instead draw inspiration directly from award-winning Polish fantasy writer and short-story author of The Witcher, Andrzej Sapkowski; Geralt, the main character of The Witcher, operates on his own moral code in an ethically hazy universe or in “grey areas,” so to speak and Gop wants The Witcher 2 to closely resemble the novel in this regard. Also, The Witcher likes boobies.

Coming September 7th to the 360, PS3, and PC collectively is yet another DLC for Mass Effect 2 focusing on Asari Scientist Liara T’soni, her troublesome mission, and of course, her relationship with Commander Shepard. If the thousand-year-old Justicar in Mass Effect 2 named Samara left you just as sexually frustrated as I, you’ll still have a chance at woo-ing another blue chick from your past. The Lair of The Shadow Broker DLC will retail for $10.00 or 800 Microsoft Points. Don’t forget to check-out the trailer for the upcoming DLC.

Dead Rising 2 will be hitting US shelves on September 28th, but I recently dug through a bunch of goodies regarding its release and discovered a YouTuber’s gameplay video allotting us fifteen whole minutes worth of cutscenes from the beginning of DR2. The events taking place are a bit confusing, but we’re able to see protagonist Chuck Greene and his young daughter Katey. Apparently, they have a gruesome connection or memory of Dead Rising’s fictional town of Willamette, Colorado. A  humorous poster advertising an infection suppressing drug called “Zombrex” can be seen adoring the elevator, a medication Katey is supposedly taking after being bitten during her first run-in with the undead.

The Tokyo Game Show is returning on September 16, and we can hope for some major announcements to be made at the event, or at least some awesome gameplay to be shown. Konami, Level-5, Sega, and Tecmo-Koei have announced their lineups for the show, although it isn’t known which are playable and which will be presented in video form. Some notable familiars are Metal Gear Solid: Rising from Konami and Sonic Colors from Sega, but you can check after the break for the full list.

Are you ready to lay the smackdown!? Well, before that, get ready to make a decision about which store you’re buying this year’s Smackdown vs. Raw from, because many stores seem to be offering different bonuses. Ranging from different characters to even money off of Pay-Per-View events, it seems like there is something to try to appeal to each Hulkamaniac… or Kanonite… or whatever’s in now. Take a look to see which stores are offering which bonuses on WWE’s newest addition to the Smackdown vs. Raw series.

I’ve been a DDR player for around 8 or 9 years now. I’m not one of those professional plays-on-two-arcade-machines-at-once kind of gals, but I’m certainly decent. If you’ve read my E3 hands-and-feet-on preview of the Wii version of the upcoming DDR game – you know my dilemma with how the series has changed over time. It’s gone from a tracklist of Eurobeat, hardcore, and Japanese-inspired songs to Britney Spears and Sean Paul songs slowly but surely. That’s when I left the scene… And waited ever so patiently for a return of the music that devoted DanceDanceRevolution players have been waiting for on current-gen consoles and arcades. We’re tired of tap dancing around on the PS2 if we want good music! Luckily I had a chance to try out the upcoming PS3 version of DDR at a Konami preview event in NYC this week which also utilizes the PlayStation Move hardware.

Sneak Preview: The music is back!

Look below to see all the trophies for Paramount’s new air combat shooter.

Although Deus Ex: Invisible War was a great game on its own, there was something special about its predecessor — something revolutionary. The first play-through of Deus Ex was just something incredible — a whole new experience– and the game was ahead of its time. We know this, and so does Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s game director Jean-Francois Dugas. According to Dugas, he is trying his best to make sure that Human Revolution brings gamers the same feeling that the original Deus Ex brought us 10 years ago. Hear what Dugas had to say about Dues Ex: Human Revolution, and see the latest gameplay trailer below!

Not everyone made the choice at the end of Dragon Age that would allow this DLC to exist, but if you didn’t, you missed out on one of the most interesting choices in Dragon Age: Origins.  Morrigan, a definite fan-favorite character, leaves the protagonist with a cliffhanger of an ending if you choose one way, and it is the next, and potentially final, DLC of the game that will answer this monument of a question: Where did she go?

Whenever a beta comes to consoles it always seems to be more of a stability test rather than a way to obtain feedback from the community to tweak the game, you know what a beta is supposed to be. But maybe more and more companies are starting to realize that betas can be helpful for more than just testing their servers. Today on the PlayStation Blog, Matthew Pruitt a Community Manager for EA explained to us what DICE was able to take from the lengthy Medal of Honor beta that appeared on the PS3, and the changes they made based on the feedback.
