zombAs a general rule I stay far away from the Community Games – er, excuse me, Indie Games section on Xbox Live. While there are a scant few gems to be found on there, it’s rife with Geometry Wars clones, insipid beer games, and various other ways to waste your Microsoft points. While making the rounds online one fine day I was introduced to the rather peculiarly-titled I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MBIES 1N IT!!!1 fresh from Dishwasher creator, James Silva. While reluctant at first to check out a game that is simply a mockery of the industry it was released in, I was soon quite eager to take part in this massive act of trolling. After all, Silva would know trolling, fresh from the 1-point review he wrote for The Dishwasher. I was quite surprised with a dual-stick shooter that brought an impish grin to my face…for a while.

countryUpon hearing about the Rock Band Country Track Pack, I thought it’d be the perfect way to get my mom involved with my obsessive habit. Late at night or on my first day home from work after a week of long days, I pop it in to sing and strum my heart out to ease away my stress. PopCap Games’ most addictive offering has made it to the Xbox Live Arcade. Granted, this was quite a bit ago now, but we thought it merited a review anyway! Is it worth your hard-earned 800 Microsoft points? Is a water attack super effective against a fire-based PokĂ©mon?

labAs video games continue to branch out and unite with other entertainment mediums, it was an exciting announcement to hear that the hot, upcoming genetically-mutated game Prototype would be getting it’s own comic series via the impressive duo DC Comics and Sierra Entertainment. Well I booted up Spawn Kill’s hype machine and as it was chugging along quite nicely, I decided to venture down to one of my local comic book shops and pick up the first (of what will be a total of six) issue myself to take a look at what seems to set up readers for a bit of a pre-story to the game.

Mini Review: D-Pad Hero

Posted by Spawn Kill on March 3rd, 2009

dpad_heroHow many of you out there are Guitar Hero or Rock Band fans? I’m sure there are plenty of you out there. Working hard every day to become better than the rest? Or maybe you’re just playing to get the epic feeling of actually playing guitar. Now don’t you feel so awesome with your plastic guitar, rocking out to tracks from the 80s and 90s? But hang on a second. What did the people who actually lived back then do to feel like guitar gods even when they couldn’t actually play no matter how much they practiced? Well I’ll tell you what they didn’t do. They didn’t bust out some D-Pad Hero for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
