Hulu Paid Service Detailed for Xbox 360 and PS3
Hulu the online streaming television service finally announced their paid program and with that announced what the Xbox 360 and PS3 service will include. The Hulu Plus service will cost $10 a month and will allow you to watch Hulu on multiple devices including internet enabled televisions, iPads, blu-ray devices and of course your home consoles. From everything that has been reported the Hulu service on consoles will work much like Netflix streaming, you will have to pay for the consoles online service and Hulu Plus.
The Hulu Plus service will not only allow users to watch television shows on their home consoles but also features full seasons of past and present hit shows. So different from the current service subscribers can now go back and watch an entire series of their favorite shows on-demand.
For Xbox 360 owners you will have to be a gold subscriber to take advantage of Hulu’s new service but it won’t appear on the Xbox until early 2011. For PS3 users you have to be a subscriber to the new PlayStation Network Plus service but the PS3 might be getting Hulu much sooner than 2011, in fact it could be available as soon as next month. I assume the PS3’s ability to connect to the internet via a web browser enables Hulu to quickly create an application for the console which could be the reason why it might appear very soon on the PS3.
As nice as it sounds you still have to pay $50 for both the XBL and PSN+ service and the $10 a month for Hulu Plus; add an extra $8 a month to it if you already have Netflix. That’s a lot of money if want to have both Netflix and Hulu. If you can’t wait to check out the new service on your console you can visit Hulu.com to sign up to be a part of the preview program.

If they bust out a database that rivals or even equals Netflix I'll probably go for this, unless it has advertisements still tacked on, in which case having a subscription is stupid.
i never understood the advertisement problem. i assume you either pay for cable or satellite, in which case you get commercials. what's the difference here?
Hmm, if choosing between Netflix and Hulu it'd be tough since Netflix is already established on consoles and what know what to expect like older TV shows and the like, while Hulu might offer a lot more NEW TV shows and videos… Might be worth it if it's similar to the online service they already provide.
I don't pay for satellite or cable. So that's not a valid argument. Advertisements exist to pay for the services. If I'm already paying for a service, I don't want to be watching advertisements. The fact that any paid channel on cable or satellite gets away with it is ridiculous, but that's an older argument.
I havent used hulu in a long time but they used to allow you to watch all the ads at the start of the show so i would just let it sit there for a few mins and i would do other things while i waited for it to start. I didnt mind that at all. Also with DVR i hate commercials that much more. I'll sometimes not watch the show even when i can just so i can skip the commercials.
thats the one thing i can't find any info about. They didnt say if they were keeping the ads in or taking them out. I guess if they leave it in there, thats the one thing Netflix has over them.
Yeah with netflix you do have to wait for some tv shows to hit DVD before they show up but there are some shows that will be available for streaming the day after it airs on tv. The office was like that, Heroes, Party Down… it will be interesting to see if companies stop doing that with netflix and make them wait so they can put it only on Hulu
I would have done it if I didn't have to be a PS+ subscriber. Now the greedy effheads won't get a dime out of me.
Most Hulu shows are FREE online. Can we simply watch the free content, as we would online, without having to subscribe for $10 monthly? Or is it setup to only provide to “paying” customers? Either way, Im not paying a dime for something I can watch online somewhere else for free.
I just bought the PS3 from Best Buy. They sold me on the fact that I could watch Hulu with this PS3. I immedeatly tried to watch a hulu show, but the videos wont load-up. I F-around updating software until 1 am. Now I find out that I have to pay $10 a month, plus possible an additional $50. If I wanted to pay $60 dollars a month I would get Dish with a DVR. Why would I want to pay $60 / mo to watch Hulu when I can connect my lap-top to my flat screen for and watch it for free? I will be taking my PS3 back to Best buy today
you pay 50 for the whole year then your have to pay 10 doallars aevery month for hulu… so all in all your paying only about 170 a year if you want it
they didnt say anything about it but i assume you can still watch hulu for free but the $10 lets you watch more tv shows past and present and the ability to watch it on something other than a computer.
lol if you bought a PS3 just to watch Hulu then you should def have never bought a PS3 to begin with
Not anymore. Hulu just started a pilot program for paid subscribers. I used to watch older television programs but I found other things to do.
well maybe you have to go and get your PS3 back now since you won't need PSN plus to watch hulu lol.
