SouthPeak Games is happy to announce that Blood Bowl has shipped to retail shelves throughout North America. The upcoming fantasy sports title is set to release next week for Windows PC and the Xbox 360. With the Super Bowl just around the corner, there is no better way to get ready for the big game than with a football game that features fantasy creatures from Warhammer. Yeah it sounds strange but this ultraviolent sports game is sure to bring in football fans and those who shun away from sports games.
Players will be tasked with managing a team of Orcs, Lizardmen, Goblins and many other creatures and handling the tactics on the field as well as keeping players in top physical form throughout the season. Blood Bowl will feature a full season mode as well as an online competitive mode.
“I’ve watched a lot of football games in my day, both live and on television,” said Aubrey Norris, Manager of Human-Orc Relations at SouthPeak. “I can safely say that Blood Bowl is the only one where I’ve seen a Goblin on a pogo-stick jump over the defensive line and bounce his way to a touchdown. I mean, really – where else are you going to see that?”
Blood Bowl’s retail Windows PC and Xbox 360 versions will be available for $39.99 and $49.99 respectively. A PSP version of the game will also be released and has a tentative release date of spring 2010.
