Xbox 360 Exclusive Horror Game: Deadly Premonition Detailed!

If Rainy Woods was something you have been following (for years now…) waiting and waiting for just the littlest ketchup squirt of information, I advise your waiting to end. Rainy Woods, a horror game originally planned for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 by Marvelous (with their partner Ignition, once again such as with their recent Muramasa), has been halted due to its similarities to the TV series Twin Peaks. It was more or less scrapped, though the developer Access Games has gone back to the chopping block, brought some bits from Rainy Woods, and brings us Deadly Premonition. It’s now penned as an exclusive title for the Xbox 360. Screenshots, character information, a trailer, and  more details below!
Perusing the official site will unearth a preview of a wide cast of characters from the beautiful young victim (seen hanging below in screenshots), a wheelchair-bound, gas mask-wearing mad man, FBI Agent York (your role), to perhaps a little love interest. An interesting bunch indeed. According to the official website, this horror / suspense / murder mystery is already promising a March 2010 release window!
For many, this is a huge relief, as the same update keep leaving the publisher’s lips for what seems like decades: “It’s still being worked on, we promise…!” When I see a horror game with heavy potential I let loose a girlish squeal left and right. Where are my horror junkies? Rejoice! After the latest debacle for the horror genre, Ju-On… We’re really in pain, so here’s to my premonition that Marvelous and Ignition will deliver.
Update Nov. 11: Shane Bettenhausen, Director of Business Development of Ignition, has unveiled one itsy bitsy little horrifying detail. Deadly Premonition will be launching with a $19.99 price tag. As much as my wallet smiled at that, my heart wrenched in worry. A $19.99 Xbox 360 title? How could it cost them so little to develop that it will be able to be that low? This isn’t some casual Wii game. Tread carefully.
