$50 Off an Xbox 360 Elite and $100 off a PS3
Let the price wars begin! What started out as a rumor is now a reality. Microsoft is now offering a $50 mail-in-rebate to anyone who purchases an Xbox 360 Elite console from September 22nd to October 5th. The rebate was announced or made official coincidentally on the same day Halo 3: ODST was released. Could this be a way slow down PS3 sales or is this a way to sell more copies of ODST? Probably the former but either way the consumers win. Although it’s a mail-in-rebate it’s still $50 and it’s not too much of a hassle to get your money.
If you were one of the people who bought a 360 before this deal came out don’t worry, most stores will allow you to return your 360 within 30 days even if its opened. All you got to do is return the one you got and buy a new one, then visit the Microsoft website and get your rebate form. With the rebate the Elite is the same price as the Nintendo Wii but that won’t last too long with rumors of the Wii dropping their price to $199 by this Sunday. Even the PS3 is getting on the savings bandwagon with their credit card deal. If you sign up for a Sony credit card and your first purchase is $299 or more, or a PS3, you get a $100 credit making the PS3 a cool $199. Not too bad seeing as you can cancel the credit card when you finally pay it off. If you just bought a PS3 you still have time to return it and sign up for the card to get the $100 credit. If you don’t have a gaming console by now, it’s a great time to get one!
