demotime0910If you’re like me, you love demos.  First of all, they’re free, which is always good, and secondly, they give you a chance to try out a game before you do invest any hard-earned cash.  Recent demos on PS3 and PSP included Batman: Arkham Asylum, Mini Ninjas, WET, and Final Fantasy: Dissida.

If you’ve already played through those to your heart’s content, then I have some good news: This Thursday, September 10, you can download the demos for the LittleBigPlanet: Game of the Year Edition for your PS3, or Half-Minute Hero for PSP.  I know I’ll be downloading both, since I haven’t yet jumped on the LBP bandwagon.

The LBP demo will feature a  “handful of in-game levels and mini games” you can either play by yourself or with up to three friends.  In addition, you can customize your sackboy and a few levels with stickers and such, as well as having access to a few user-created levels.  In other words, this is your opportunity to try out the entire LBP experience in bite-sized form.  Nice, considering the original never had a demo.  LittleBigPlanet: Game of the Year Edition is now available for $59.99.  The game includes the original game, plus tons of bonus content, such as 18 new levels.

Turns out, XSEED will be treating us to two demos for Half-Minute Hero, the first of which is also releasing this Thursday.  This first demo will enable you to basically play through an entire RPG in only a few minutes in Hero Mode, which “allows players to level-up by defeating monsters in random encounters, upgrade equipment, talk to villagers and heal, all against a punishing countdown clock.”  The game will be available as a PSP exclusive starting October 20, 2009.
