GuitarHero5_Xbox360Avatar2Owners of Guitar Hero World Tour and Guitar Hero Smash Hits will be able to export on-disc tracks for use in Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero in a similar fashion to last year’s Rock Band 2’s support for Rock Band on-disc songs. Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 gamers can download an update (will cost you money) to export on-disc tracks to their hard drives, but you will need a unique 20-digit code on the back of the World Tour and Smash Hits manuals. Individual tracks can be deleted. A free update will also update World Tour DLC with GH5 features and allow the tracks to be used in the new Hero titles.

For the Wii, it’s more or less the same, except DLC must be re-downloaded for GH5 support to the Wii’s internal memory or an SD card. The on-disc song export option will also allow individual song copying (probably due to the Wii’s limited storage space). Note that for all three systems, there are six currently released DLC songs that will not be supported in GH5 or Band Hero. Unfortunately, we don’t know what they are.
