mw21So sometimes people in the industry will do a little ditty for the fans and record themselves opening up the box of a game before it is attainable to us. Usually, it’s less than exciting and has something useless like, oh I don’t know, a helmet that can only fit the head of newborn kitten. But this, this… (Call of Duty) Modern Warfare 2? I put it in parentheses because the last that was announced was that Call of Duty WAS going to be in the official finalized title, after all the switching back and forth a la Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams (Or whatever they ended up deciding on/Are still deciding with Bioshock), but in the strikingly exciting unboxing that was revealed via Robert Bowling’s twitter feed the other day, Community Manager and Bossman of all things Modern Warfare, Call of Duty was lacking from the boxart of the Hardened edition shown. Then again, I suppose there is plenty of time to make amendments, but I figured if it was being revealed as an epic unboxing, that it was the finalized packaging.

According to the man himself, Hardened Edition will be the step up from your standard retail copy will cost $79.99 and will come packed in steel casing with a download code for the very first Call of Duty title, redeemable on PSN and XBLA, obviously dependent on which version you purchase, as well as a book with art of the game and some of the maps.

The bigger box you see, the ultimate “Prestige Edition” will retail for $149.99 and will be packed with fully-functional, Infinity-Ward branded night vision goggles. Your neighbors private lives will cease to exist beginning November 10th, 2009.

  • It comes with separate cat goggles too. Infinity Ward cares about gamers and gamers' cats.
