Ghostbusters on PC may Bust Significantly Less

Information welling up from all corners of an irritated network of gamers indicates that the PC version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game is going to be shipping sans the cooperative game mode. This is unfortunate in that it’ll likely have a detrimental effect on the sales of the PC version, primarily due to co-op being something that is capable of lifting up a completely uninteresting game to the realm of enjoyable gaming, not to mention a game that comes packed with an intellectual property tied pretty strongly into the memories of so many folks out there.
I can’t help but think this is going to drive the piracy rate up for this game. If it were to ship with co-op that forced you to take the game online to enjoy with friends, gamers with fewer moral scruples than the rest of us might feel more inclined to pay for the product. However, as it stands, this is exactly the sort of thing that those same people are going to champion as their reason in being justified for stealing it, unfortunately for the game.
While this isn’t concretely confirmed, it’s looking like more and more of a sure thing as time goes stretches on. Amazon.com lists the PS3 and 360 versions of the game at full retail price, while the PC version is on sale for a smaller sum of $27.99, not really a good sign. This wouldn’t be so disheartening save for the fact that it appears that quite a few people were looking forward to running through with a friend.
