The PS3 Price Drop You’ve Been Waiting For!

After I bought a PC from Dell I always get these “Save on a new system!” e-mails. Those e-mails always get deleted as soon as I get them, but for some reason I decided to check this one out. I was shocked to see that they had a sale for the PS3. It was an even bigger shock to see that it was $100 off! That’s $100 off the PS3 160GB Uncharted bundle.  Not the scaled-down 80GB version. The 160GB system usually sells for $499 but you can get it now for $399, the same price as the 80GB version.

This 160GB PS3 comes bundled with one of the best games for the system, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune (Retails at $60). If the $100 wasn’t enough, they are offering free shipping as well. This is one of the best deals I’ve seen for the PS3 and better yet it’s for their top of the line system. If this doesn’t get you to pick up a new a PS3, I don’t know what will.     I have over 160GB used on my 320GB hard drive. Things add up if you never delete them.
  • well the PS3 takes up 20 gb just for the OS, then you have the game installs that take up a good chunk. if you have any PSN games they take up a good amount. plus any movies you upload to it as well. I think 160 is a good size, 80 gb might be too small. I got the 40gb version and i had to upgrade as soon as killzone 2 came out.

  • Wow really!? thats my bad. i didnt know they did away with that on the 160gb version. Which one is backwards compat then?
  • The only PS3s that are backwards compatible are the original 60gb (fully compatible via hardware), and the 80gb (only certain titles are compatible, via a software download).

    Did you forget about the backwards compatible 20GB model?
  • Ha, yeah I did! I'd completely forgotten about the 20gb... they seem more rare than the 60gb at this point. :D
  • Sorry to say, but the 160 gb PS3 IS NOT fully backwards compatible. Other than that... nice story ! :D
