Fallout 3 DLC Coming To PS3 (Finally!)

Bethesda Softworks recently gave a press release stating that the downloadable content previously released for their popular post-nuclear role-playing game Fallout 3 will now be released on the Playstation 3. In addition to the previous Operation: Anchorage, Broken Steel, and The Pitt expansions, Bethesda will be developing two all-new DLC packs entitled Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta. Read more about this exciting news after the cut.
Playstation 3 users know all too well the unique relationship Bethesda has with Sony. They have released two huge games on the system, but for a long while denied PS3 users access to their DLC. Oblivion players eventually got access to the Shivering Isles expansion, though much later than PC and Xbox 360 players, but never got any of the extras released only for the Microsoft platforms.
Now setting a hopefully standard (although still disappointing) trend, Bethesda will adopt what is now referred to as “delayed exclusives,” giving exclusive content to their favorite platforms and then releasing it on the PS3 after an undetermined amount of time. Strangely and luckily, they are both adopting and bucking this trend with Fallout 3, announcing the release of DLC for the Playstation 3 and at the same time as announcing brand-new DLC across all platforms. Although strange, this is ultimately a good thing for people who only have the Sony platform.
In both good and bad news, Bethesda will be releasing a Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition in October that will include the core game and all five expansions. Good news for people that have waited to jump on the bandwagon, but bad news for recent adopters (like the author himself) who just got tired of waiting and dropped 60 bucks on the game.
Point Lookout will give players access to a massive new swampland area and additional missions. It is set to be released for Microsoft systems around June, though Playstation3 players will not be able to play it until the previous 3 expansions have been released to the Playstation Network (which, strange as it seems, puts the fourth expansion out for PS3 in October, right around the release of the GotY Edition that contains the two new expansions.) Mothership Zeta will allow players to experience alien abduction first-hand, and will be released around the same time.
Stay tuned to Spawn Kill for more information on these expansions.
